The early years
How did I get to become a Virtual Assistant?
My name is Tamsin Jago, I grew up and lived in Torpoint, Cornwall for the first 28 years of my life, I currently now live across the River Tamar in Plymouth, Devon. Can’t be too far away from those beautiful beaches.
I always tell people I’m Cornish, despite the fact I was in fact born in Plymouth, but I say my feet didn’t touch Devon soil at that point, so I will continue to tell people I’m Cornish.
Now

I live with my boyfriend and our dog, Dave the Sproodle. He is one the reasons (Dave, not my boyfriend) I decided to take the exciting journey of working from home and becoming a Virtual Assistant as I hated leaving Dave to go to work and being made redundant gave me this perfect opportunity.
My work experiences
During my 25 years working in a Global Insurance company, I looked after a range of people, mainly higher management including Chief Operating Officers, Customer Services Managers and a Head of Customer Services and Claims. Because of this I am used to managing multiple calendars at the same time.
I have decided I’d like to put my skills to use and work with small businesses, tradespeople or entrepreneurs to help them with their own business administration giving them more time to focus on growing their business.
During my working life I’ve organised staff Christmas parties for over 250 people with various themes; including sit down meals, buffets and booking entertainment. I’ve set up offsite away days and staff briefings. This involved planning, and making sure the speaker and guests are prepared with regards to IT, room layout and refreshments.
I’ve worked with managers remotely for a number of years so this has now become second nature. My managers have travelled a lot within the UK, Europe and sometimes Asia which I’ve handled all the travel arrangements for.
I love to use my organisational, communication, and administration skills to create usable documents for people and have put many standard letters and forms together for various Customer Services teams to use for customers.

Humour
I believe I have a great sense of humour. I personally think I’m really funny – my boyfriend wouldn’t agree though. Luckily all but one of my previous managers have had a great sense of humour so we’ve had great working relationships.
